Madgwicks Lawyers is proud to have hosted yet another First Quarter lunch on 27 May 2016, at which it welcomed clients and a panel of prominent sports journalists and aficionados for lunch at Etihad Stadium to raise funds for MS Australia.

This year the charity AFL-themed luncheon, aimed at raising funds for MS Australia, was once again chaired by David Galbally. The panel featured leading AFL journalist from the Herald Sun, Mike Sheahan, chief AFL journalist for the Age, Caroline Wilson, and renowned AFL player advocate Iain Findlay. All three took part in ‘behind the journalistic scenes’ discussions, insight into AFL journalism, media and politics as well as their personal views on what to expect in the 2016 season.

Ambassador for MS Australia, Shara Gillahan, spoke to packed room of industry leaders on the challenges and obstacles faced by people living with multiple sclerosis, the impact it has on every aspect of a person’s life, and the challenges she has personally faced following her diagnosis six years ago.

Madgwicks’ Partner, Peter Kennedy, commented that: “We’re excited about the fact that we’ve started a fledgling tradition for our firm and its clients. As a Melbourne-based firm, we embrace the importance of sport in our community, and what better way to bring sport-loving individuals together in an effort to raise money for a worthy cause!

“This year’s First Quarter lunch was once again a fantastic and successful event in support of our charity of the year, MS Australia. I cannot thank our speakers enough for kindly donating their time and insights in helping to make this event the success that it was, our clients for recognising the value in purchasing tickets to attend, and external organisations for donating their products and services.”
