Congratulations to Madgwicks Lawyers Partner Luisa Gonzaga who has been nominated as a finalist in the Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards for 2023.
The Partner of the Year Awards is the Australian legal industry’s premier event in recognising partners or partner equivalent legal professionals at the height of their career.
The awards are regarded as one of the legal profession’s most prestigious accolades and highlight professional development and innovation, showcasing the individuals who are leading the way in the industry.
With a judging panel including academics, business executives, entrepreneurs and innovators, the Partner of the Year Awards are peer-reviewed recognition of Luisa's capabilities and specialisation in Workplace Health and Safety law. Luisa was selected from a field of 300+ entrants who also entered into the Health Partner of The Year award.
Luisa assists clients in matters involving health and safety compliance and representation, responding to and assisting with managing major workplace incidents as well as representing clients in WHS prosecutions, coronial inquests or merits review at VCAT.
Luisa also regularly conducts training from employee level to senior management and executive teams. She undertakes legal compliance reviews of clients’ existing safety management systems and provides practical recommendations to achieve safety compliance and implement improvements.
She also provides legal advice on WorkCover matters from managing ill and injured workers, return to work obligations and statutory benefits, and gives advice and represents clients in challenging Workplace Industry Classification disputes.
In addition, Luisa is experienced in undertaking complex bullying complaints and investigations and provides legal advice on employment matters such as unfair dismissal, general protection, drafting submissions and representing clients at conciliation.
Luisa has worked with State and Commonwealth government departments, hospitals, international companies, independent schools, large construction companies, major supermarket chains, and businesses in the oil and gas, transport, manufacturing, rail and logistics industries.
